Day in the life – Barry

This month we introduced RedDoor’s Technical Director, Barry Hannah. Barry has extensive experience working within IT services and has a wealth of knowledge on cyber security for businesses. We caught up with Barry to ask him a few questions.

What is your background?

“I started working in IT almost 25 years ago. During my Sixth Form studies, I sought work experience at a local company in Sutton. At the time, this was being partly run by Mark, RedDoor’s Director. I completed my 2-week placement and then got asked to come back and help during the school holidays. That quickly turned into a full-time placement. Since then, I’ve been working through the ranks undertaking various tasks and roles. When RedDoor was formed, I took the role of Technical Director.”

What are some fun facts about you?

“Football is a big passion of mine. I help my daughter’s under 12s team, Epsom and Ewell, and support Fulham FC. I have been a season ticket holder there for as long as I can remember!

I’m a keen cook and like to keep myself fit by going to the gym or riding my Peloton bike at home.

I also enjoy listening to podcasts and audiobooks while driving the car or walking the dog. I like listening to documentaries or fiction – the Harry Potter books are my favourite. My daughter and I have recently been watching the film adaptations together.”

What does your role at RedDoor involve?

“Day to day I help oversee the technical team at RedDoor. This involves ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that we do the best for our customers. We are a close-knit, open team. This means we are always bouncing ideas off one another. This helps us solve customer problems and maintain the highest quality of service. Ultimately, I must identify how RedDoor can assist growth within our customers’ businesses, with the help of managed IT services.”
