Day in the life – Barry Hannah

Introducing RedDoor IT LTD’s Technical Director, Barry Hannah. Barry has extensive experience working within IT services and has a wealth of knowledge on cybersecurity for businesses. We caught up with Barry to ask him a few questions.

What is your background?

“I started working in IT almost 25 years ago. During my Sixth Form studies, I sought a work experience role at a local company in Sutton which was being partly run at the time by Mark, RedDoor’s Director. I completed my 2-week placement and then got asked to come back and help during the school holidays. That quickly turned into a full-time placement. Since then, I’ve been working through the ranks undertaking various tasks and job roles, until RedDoor IT was formed, and I took the role of Technical Director.”

What are some fun facts about you?

“A big passion of mine is football, whether that be helping in my daughter’s under 12s team, Epsom and Ewell, or watching Fulham FC with my friends and family. I have been a season ticket holder there for as long as I can remember!

I’m a keen cook and like to keep myself fit by going to the gym or riding my Peloton bike at home.

I also enjoy listening to podcasts and audiobooks while driving the car or walking the dog. I like listening to documentaries or fiction – the Harry Potter books are a big favourite. Recently my daughter and I have been watching the film adaptations together.”

What does your role at RedDoor involve?

“Day to day I help oversee the technical team at RedDoor, making sure everything runs smoothly to do the best by our customers. We are a close-knit, open team, meaning we are always bouncing ideas or suggestions off one another in the office to help us solve customer problems and maintain the highest quality of service. Ultimately, it is my duty to identify how RedDoor can assist growth within our customers’ businesses, with the help of managed IT services.”
